Tuna Poké

Today we’re talking poké, people. Not only is it fun to say (FYI – it’s pronounced POH-keh), it’s delicious, healthy, and ridiculously easy to put together.

I know this is the second post I’ve put up in the past couple of weeks involving chopsticks (see sesame shrimp soba noodles) but as previously discussed, I am now completely obsessed with toasted sesame oil, and just happened to come into possession of a few sashimi grade tuna steaks last week. Also, soba noodles are Japanese in origin whereas poké is totally Hawaiian. So, variety.

6 Things To Do Before the End of Summer ’16

You guys. I cannot believe it is almost the end of AUGUST! Summer ’16 has almost come to an end (although we are sure to be #blessed with at least a few more weeks of 100 degree temps in Texas)! In honor of all of the greatness that is summer, I’ve compiled the six things you need to put on your to-do list before the end of the season! Surprise – half of them involve food and bev.

1. Take your poolside cocktail game up a notch and whip up a batch of FROSÉ.

Because rosé is trendy AF and so is the frozen version. The Kitchn just shared one of the best recipes I’ve seen so far: watermelon mint! All you need is a magnum of rosé, watermelon cubes, sugar, water, mint, and a few lemons. Sounds like the recipe for success to me. Get the full recipe here.

Yellow Cake Baked Oatmeal

…AKA your new favorite breakfast. Chrissy Teigen does it again (If you haven’t purchased a copy of Cravings yet, I highly recommend it). Everything in there is pure gold.

I’m a huge fan of oatmeal. It makes regular weekday breakfast appearances. So many, in fact, that I keep a few boxes at the office (if it’s at the office I’m committed). But this oatmeal is really raising the bar. It’s like a breakfast-dessert hybrid and I would eat it anytime, anywhere. This oatmeal has earned itself a spot in the weekend breakfast rotation.

Note the new cat lady potholders! I’m obsessed.

This is THE perfect breakfast to bake when you have people in town…it smells so good. And it’s so pretty – I almost forgot that oatmeal was an ingredient. Basically a health food, right?  You can find the original recipe in all of its glory on So Delushious.

A Toast to Toast: Lemon Edamame Avocado + Apricot Gorgonzola

Soooo July has been a crazy month and we’re only about halfway through! I’m in the final stretch of wedding planning (T-minus 70 days) and between work and the big day details, life has been busy (fun-busy, but still busy). So in honor of this crazy month, I’m giving a shoutout to one of my favorite go-to meals for even the busiest of weekdays…TOAST!

Breakfast, lunch, dinner…all perfect occasions for toast. It’s filling, requires no silverware, and can be made in 15 minutes or less. You can prep savory toast for lunch, sweet toast for breakfast, or a combination of both for whatever time of day the mood strikes. In all honesty, when I did this post I ate these toasts for dinner. And they were delicious.

So much love for toast.

It just wouldn’t be right to do a “toast to toast” without sharing both a sweet and savory variety to do the dish justice. So today’s toast toppings include:
