At this point, you all probably know I’m on board with the treat yo’self movement. One of my absolute favorite ways to relax is an at-home facial, mask, eye treatment, hair treatment…you name it. Thanks to my Birchbox subscription I have a steady stream of samples arriving on my doorstep on a monthly basis (dangerous).
Chicago – one of my absolute FAVORITE cities!
However, when I travel for work, the at-home options aren’t always available. So today I’m sharing some of my favorite (and for the most part, carry-on friendly) beauty treatments. This trip’s theme: sheet masks. If you follow me on Snapchat, you already know that I’m a big fan of these babies. They’re easy to execute, feel amazing, and come in enough varieties for me to spend entirely too much time perusing the aisles of Sephora. Do they look awesome on? No. But that’s okay, because you’ll get a laugh out of my sheet mask selfies too.
In this post, I’m featuring:
Oh and don’t worry, I’m including plenty of non-sheet mask pictures from the trip – including deep dish.
Pictured: Sephora Shea Lip Mask, Dr. Jart Vital Hydra Solution Sheet Mask, Dr. Jart Brightening Infusion Sheet Mask, Avene Thermal Spring Water, Graydon Hair Smoothie, Malin + Goetz Vitamin E Moisturizer, Rodan + Fields Redefine Eye Cloths, and Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Gels.
Warning: graphic sheet mask content ahead.
First up…Dr. Jart. This was very much needed a long flight and the below deep dish. This mask is soaked with a serum that always leaves my skin feeling super hydrated and noticeably brighter in the morning!
Our deep dish of choice: Lou Malnati’s!
Next up: Skyn Iceland’s Hydro Cool Eye Gels. Regardless of whether or not I’m up late, I’m blessed with dark circles/puffiness in the morning. With Icelandic glacial water, essential minerals, and healthy fats, these gels kept me looking well rested. Plus, they stayed put.
A little biking excursion to Grant Park kept us active. I also checked out Studio Three while I was in town…talk about a great workout! Also, I learned never to bike on sidewalks in Chicago.
Okay, so at this point I needed more eye gels. However, Sephora makes a mean lip mask! I had never heard of a sheet mask for lips, but am a big fan of lip treatments – Sugar makes a great scrub that you could do before this. It did move around a bit, but I’ll be buying this mask again despite the slightly creepy appearance. My lips were soft for two whole days afterwards!
A few other essentials outside of the sheet mask category: Rodan + Fields’ Redefine Eye Cloths are perfect for removing any remaining makeup before bed, plus they include peptides that keep you looking young. Avene Thermal Spring Water is a must for me when I travel anywhere. The one pictured isn’t travel size, but they make one that is the ideal size for your purse or carry on. It’s a light mist that refreshes skin after flying or just an extra-long day. Finally, Malin + Goetz Vitamin E Moisturizer comes with me everywhere. It’s simple and it works!
I FINALLY made it to Eataly in Chicago and it did not disappoint. It’s a good thing I had to catch a flight home…otherwise I would have spent the whole day there. Their Bergamot Citrus Butter Cookies are delicious, and I’m going to find a way to recreate them! Stay tuned…
